Our story

The Hospitale Laudato Si was born from the intuition of a group of volunteers from the Statio Peregrinorum, the office dedicated to those who travel the paths converging on the city of Assisi and come to stamp their credential and collect the document: the "Testimonium", which certifies having walked at least 100 kilometers or cycled 200 kilometers.

These pilgrims often lamented the fact that in Assisi they could not find "humble" accommodation, typical of the most famous and frequented Spanish routes and beyond, such as the Camino de Santiago.

By involving the local municipal administration and the Sacred Convent of St. Francis, an Association aimed precisely at this kind of hospitality was created.

A Collaboration Agreement was stipulated with the Municipality of Assisi, which provided the premises, accepted a contribution from the Conventual Franciscan Friars for the establishment of the Association, and thus a group of 15 volunteer members founded the Social Promotion Association named Hospitale Laudato Si in January 2022.

On August 14 of the same year, after resolving a significant number of technical-bureaucratic difficulties, the only donation-based accommodation for pilgrims with credentials in Assisi was inaugurated, in the presence of Mayor Stefania Proietti and numerous civil and religious authorities.

This was just the first step, help us take the next ones!
